Delta Girls' Depth Brings Home Trophy

In a smaller 11-team meet, the team with scoring depth usually walks home with the trophy. That case was true Tuesday night for the Delta girls. The Panthers only had two individual winners, Emily Baier in the triple jump (34-04.25) and Kaley St. Peter in the 100 hurdles (17.82), but they brought home the trophy with 18 other top-eight finishes and points in every relay but the 4x100, including a win in the 4x200 (2:00.74).

In the distance races, Battle Mountain displayed their almost-always-present depth. Megan Bamford (5:47.89) and Hayley Diemar (6:03.98) went took the top two spots in the 1600 and Celia Badger ran a consistent race by herself under the lights in dropping temperatures for the win in the 3200 (13:03.29). In the 800, Cedaredge's Camie Baldozier defended her top time coming in by holding off Annelise Pelletier from Gunnison, 2:35.09 to 2:36.71.

In the throws, Cedaredge showed off their strength by having five throwers score in the two events with wins from Holly Jenkins in the discus (95-09) and Katie Hyke in the shot put (35-4).
