A Grand Opening At Grand Valley

Cedaredge, Delta Boys Dominate The Day

There were no official "Athlete of the Meet" honors handed out, but Delta's Beau Byers made a good case for the unofficial honor. The Panther won the 110 hurdles (16.52), 300 hurdles (43.33), and triple jump (38-7.75). The speedsters from Delta also won both sprint relays (46.54 in 4x100 and 1:35.10 in the 4x2) and the distance crew won gold in the 4x800.

Cedaredge had the edge in the boys title with broad amounts of scoring. The Bruins scored in all but two events and had victories from Isaac Swoffer in the 100 (11.44), Brendon Klassen in the 400 (53.11) and Patrick Walker in the discus (135-7).

Roaring Fork's talented duo of Jasper Germain and Justin Thompson each hopped in one event and won them both. Germain won the high jump (6-1) and Thompson the long jump (20-4.75).

Gunnison showed its distance depth with wins in the 800 on up with three different victors. Those came in the form of Colton Stice in the 800 (2:01.61), Braydon O'Neill in the 1600 (4:54.91) and Jon Wilkinson in the 3200 (10:39.38).
