2017 Ftn-Ft. Carson Invite: Chilling Out

Hogan, Kenward Light Up the Triple Jump

Although it was cool (40s) and windy during the triple jump, there was no disguising the fact that, arguably, the state's two best triple jumpers--Jequan Hogan and Zaccre Kenward--were taking turns on the runway.

It helped that the lay of the triple jump runway was almost dead-on perpendicular to the direction of the wind. So, though the wind was blowing a stiff 20 mph or so, it did little to hinder or help the triple jumpers.

The rain early in the afternoon made certain there was no dust to settle, but when all was said and done, Hogan had pushed his season-best mark to 48-0 and Kenward has pushed his to 46-2.

If it had been more pleasant to hang around and watch, more people might have appreciated the show. But, no matter, both competitors are safely in the state meet--Hogan in 5A and Kenward in 4A.
