You don't see Madison Mooney running many 3200s, but what she does in the 800 and 1600 tells you most of what you need to know. Mooney is a gamer, the kind of racer you want toeing the line in a big race.
Remind yourself a time or two that this is the girl who won the Arcadia mile this spring. When the chips were down against Mountain Vista at the Metro State meet last fall, she won there, too.
Mooney struggled some at Nike Cross Southwest last fall, but given another opportunity at Nike Cross Nationals, she showed up with a solid race there. Broomfield figures to be in every possible team hunt this fall as well, so that piece of extra motivation figures to be in place for Mooney.
Mooney is more of a middle distance type than a 5K type, but she's still one of Colorado's best on the cross country course.
