2018 Larry Pickering Invitational: A Glorious Day Turns Up More Nice Performances

Shynesti Johnson takes the 100 meters.

Shaelynn Williams is taking a liking to the shot put circle at Dutch Clark. For the second Saturday in a row, she emerged victorious in the shot put, this time with a 38-5.

And, it was Pueblo South's Jessi Castellucci going to the top of the state's discus rankings with a winning throw of 125-6. I'm guessing not many folks around the state saw that one coming, but Castellucci figures as one of the best in this year's discus field.

Katie Flaherty took a double win in the 1600 and 800. Both times around, she made victims of Grace Abernethy and Layla Roebke of Coronado, both of whom had a pair of nice efforts of their own. The current 3A presence on the statewide 800 meter leader board is nothing short of daunting.

At 400 meters, Aliyah George moved to #3 on the state leader board with a 58.95.

Widefield's Shynesti Johnson claimed the 100 meters in 12.96, good enough for the #12 mark in the state.

Jasmine Charles of Liberty snared a top-10 spot in the 300 hurdles with a 48.85. Aaliyah Ricketts of Widefield bounded her way to #4 in the long jump rankings with a 16-10.5. Katelyn McMoore's 5-2 to win the high jump gets her into the state's top 10, for the time being.

Many of this weekend's top teams and athletes at Dutch Clark Stadium will be swapping out venues to Garry Berry Stadium in Colorado Springs for the Palmer Terror Invitational.
