Rampart's Ben Conlin ran the third fastest time by a freshman last year.
To clarify, these are the top freshmen from last year's cross country season. In another month they'll be toeing the line as sophomores.
Scanning the list, it's impressive to say the least. 74 broke the 18 minute barrier, 18 freshmen broke the 17 minute barrier, and one was five short seconds away from breaking 16.
James Overberg did not compete during the track season, but he led all freshmen last fall with a jaw-dropping 16:05 PR from the Northern League meet. In reference to time, he posted the top mark.
But I'd keep a watchful eye on Cherry Creek's Parker Wolfe. Wolf ran 16:11 at the Desert Twilight, which was the second-fastest time by a freshmen last year, but he also broke 17 six times, and ran 4:38 and 9:45 during the track season.
Another one to keep an eye on is Rampart's Ben Conlin. He ran 16:13 last year, and backed that up with 4:40/9:44 track PRs.
Colorado's got a talented crop coming up in the ranks...
