In another perspective: if we have an all-freshmen race, 100th place would've been 20:42. Hypothetically, of course.
Sitting on top of the list is Niwot's Taylor James, who tallied arguably one of the best - complete - years by a freshmen. On the dirt and grass James ran 18:07 for the fastest time. And, as we all saw during the track season, she's an all-around talent. The 800 state champ went 2:13 in the distance, 56 in the 400, and 5:10 in the 1,600. Clearly, her strength appears to be in her speed, but even then, she's got strength. She'll be one to keep an eye on these next three years.
Likewise, Valor Christian's Riley Irwin went 18:14 last year for the second fastest time, which was just .10 ahead of Palmer Ridge's Isabella Prosceno.
