Colorado Middle School State Championships

Brennan Draper was a dominating figure on the course Saturday.

Brennan Draper made no contest of the boy's Blue Division. The seventh-grader from Parker was the runaway winner in 11:51 - an 11 second victory over Summit's Chance Heisler. Montrose's Jonas Graff, presumably the younger sibling of 15:25 5ker Sean Graff, tallied a solid finish of his own. The eighth-grader finished third in 12:07.

On the back of Heisler's runner-up performance, Summit dominated the team competition with 77 points. The Classical Academy took second with 116 points, while Mountain Ridge was third with 137 points

The Red Division was perhaps the lone race Saturday that was close.

Tyler Parker nabbed a two-second victory over Matt Cairns. Parker took the state title with a 12:35 victory, just ahead of Cairns, who finished in 12:37. And just outside their shadows was Samuel Lindner, who finished third in 21:41.

In the team competition it was Good Shepard who took the title, tallying 106 points. The next three squads were only separated by a mere eight points. Ortega took the runner-up spot with 153 points, while Rocky Ford and Lyons tallied 161 each. Rocky Ford won the time-breaker with their sixth runner, however.
