The Colorado State T&F Championships 2A Preview

In the sprints Clay Robinson will be looking for that double. He's the top-seed in the 100, and the 200. The Yuma junior has run 11.03 in the 100, and 22.16 in the 200.

Likewise, Mason Claunch (pictured above) is the top-seed in the 400. His 50.31 is the lone sub-51 clocking in the event this year.

On the topic of doubling, or tripling, Micah Zeller is entered in the 800, 1,600, and the 3,200, and he's the top-seed in all of them. He'll have challengers, however.

Zeller is the top-seed in the 800 with a 1:59.04 season-best, which is just ahead of Paton Edwards' 2:00.68. Additionally, Jonathan Wiggins has run 2:01.04.

In the 1,600 Zeller will have Connor Williams to race. Zeller has run 4:27.62 this season, which is is just ahead of Williams' 4:28.14. It's of note, however, that Williams has run 4:17 at lower elevations.

In the 3,200 Zeller will battle Jodzuel Juarez. Zeller's 9:41 is the top-seed, while Juarez has run 9:56 this season.

Interestingly, state cross country champ, Kidus Begashaw, who ran the third-fastest 1,600, and second-fastest 3,200 in 2A this spring, is not entered to compete at State.

The hurdles will see Blaine Peebles and Anthony Martinez battle. Martinez is the top-seed in the 100H with a 15.06 best - that's a half-second ahead of the field. Meanwhile Peebles is the top-seed in the 300H with a 41.45 best, which is just ahead of Beau TateNate Early, and Martinez. All four have run between 41.45 and 41.80, meaning this race could go down to the line.

The 300H final is scheduled to run Saturday at 2:20 p.m.

The long jump is another event that looks like it could be close. Nathan Freeman and Tyrese Otero have both cleared 21-feet. Freeman is the top-seed with a 21-4.75 best, while Otero is just four-inches back with a 21-0.75.

Meanwhile, Jaxson Lungwitz is the clear favorite to claim the triple jump. He's the only triple jumper to clear 42-feet this year. He's gone 42-1.75.

The high jump, on the other hand, should be a battle. The top-three seeds have cleared 6-0, led by Nate Early, who is the No. 1 seed with a 6-2 PR.  Brysen Harris is the No. 2 seed with a 6-1, while Brandon Eglinton is the third-seed with a 6-0.

Keeping with the theme of threes, Kail CooperBraden Smith, and Johnathan Mikita will battle it out in the pole vault. Cooper is top of the rankings with the only clearance over 13-feet. He's gone 13-0, while Smith has cleared 12-9, and Mikita has cleared 12-8.

The throws will feature some of the best in the state - across all-classifications.

Mohamed Ibrahim and Bryant Schoenthal have battled many times this season. Now these two juniors will battle for a state title.

Ibrahim is the top-seed in the shot put with a 58-7.5 best, while Schoenthal is the No. 2 seed with a 52-0.5. The roles are reversed in the discus, however. Schoenthal is the top-seed with a 175-0 best, while Ibrahim is the No. 2 seed with a 172-2.

Between jumps, relays, and sprints, Yuma looks like the favorite to claim the team title. Though, Banning Lewis Prep, and Centauri look to be in the mix as well.
