Track practices across the state are already one week underway. The weather appears to be warming, and thoughts inevitably turn toward the schedule of competition ahead.

As athletes think about the season ahead, one question that runs through the minds of a lot of individuals is, "What will it take to make it to state?" The answer to that question, of course, varies a great deal by classification. And, while there's no way to project now exactly what it will take to make it to state this year, the first and best indicator is what it took to make it to state last year.
