RIFLE – The legs and implements were not the only thing getting broken in and dusted off at the first meet for most of the 18 attending teams here. Meet officials struggled several times with the timing system and, as of Sunday evening, results were not available for the first half of the meet.

What is official is that the track season is underway on the Western Slope.
Coal Ridge’s Andy Bowles, who dominated 110-high hurdles and the high jump and finished third in the 300 hurdles (42.59), turned one of the top performances for the day. There was no official time yet for the 110 performance, but Bowles ran away from the field in the race and most accounts had him at a mid-to-low 15-second finish.
