This year, Akron got between the two-headed monster from Delta County and took home the second-place trophy. But Akron played Pomp and Circumstance to Allyson Vasquez and Sidney Merrill, a fact which means that there's plenty of rebuilding work to be done now in Akron.
Paonia and Hotchkiss, however, appear to be loaded for next year. And having each other to bang heads against all next spring should only serve to sharpen the axe for both teams. Both teams are middle distance heavy and middle distance supports a state title run very nicely.
