Cross Country Dreamin'

Will we see another showdown this fall like the one we saw last fall in 4A girls? Colorado Track XC file photo.

It's a wonderful piece of news that, between Labor Day weekend opening meets and FL Nationals, you're never more than four-and-a-half months from cross country season.

There's still track left to cover this summer, but this week will mark the beginning of cross country preseason coverage on Colorado Track XC.

You can, of course, expect in-depth looks at all four classifications and both genders within each classification. We'll dig into what teams look to have strong hands based on who's coming back this year and who took steps forward during track season. There are, however, some things that are a little more difficult to see in advance--things like a Bailey Roth moving into Coronado's attendance area or a freshman phenom who has somehow managed to fly mostly beneath the radar to this point (there is always one or two, it seems).

Fort Collins has a freshman phenom moving up this fall, but Lauren Gregory hasn't exactly flown beneath the radar to this point. Still, it's a good thing that when Erin Hooker graduates, you have a Lauren Gregory moving up. Pine Creek may have a lose one/gain one thing going on. And so it goes.

Be sure to be checking in regularly over the next couple of weeks as we take our first looks at cross country 2013. In the meantime, coaches, if your meet is not yet on the Colorado Track XC calendar, please forward whatever meet information you'd like posted and I'll get that up for you.
