Where Will Colorado Track XC Be this Week?

It's a busy weekend of cross country coming up, and here's where we'll have on-site coverage. Colorado Track XC file photo.

On Thursday, we'll be sending coverage to the Coronado Cougar Classic at Monument Valley Park in Colorado Springs. Of course Coronado will be there, but look for the A team from Mountain Vista as well, since they sat their top six last weekend at Pueblo Central. Durango comes over from the western slope and Palmer Ridge from the Palmer Divide, helping to make this meet a first-class contest. That's not to exclude any of the other fine teams that will be in attendance. Last year, the list included notables like Arapahoe, Pueblo West, and Air Academy as well. In all, more that 30 teams converged at last year's Coronado Cougar Classic, and the crowd should be similar this year.

On Friday, we send coverage up to Fort Collins, where a very large number of teams will be looking to get their seasons back on track after last week's flooding. Something on the order of 40 high school teams will be there, including several of the best teams in Wyoming. This one promises to be a dandy, but arrive early to find your parking! Then sit back to watch powers like Thompson Valley, Fort Collins, Greeley West, Thornton, Niwot, and many, many more go at it.

On Saturday, we're looking for a much smaller--something on the order of 15 teams--trading strides on the course at Fountain-Fort Carson High School. The Vanguard, a school that has been looking very good on the small-school circuit this season, gets an opportunity to take on some of the area's larger schools and measure their progress.

As always, we'll be posting results from all meets the moment they come in. Keep checking in to find out the latest on Colorado high school cross country!
