Conditions were ideal at Elmwood Golf Course as runners from three separate divisions ran the back nine in hopes of extending their seasons one more week.

For 2A Region 3, only five full teams stepped to the line, meaning that only two teams would be making the trip to Norris Penrose next Saturday.

Sophomore Makayla Garcia of Sargent took a brisk pace early, but by the first bridge crossing (about 1300m into the race for those unfamiliar with the course) she yielded the lead to Jordyn Neely of Del Norte. Neely spent the next mile and a half trying to put some distance between her and the pack, creating a gap on everyone in the field but Layla Anzelc-Tolian. Eventually, Neely's pace withered even the Moffat freshman. Neely finished the race 27 seconds in front of Anzelc-Tolian at 21:03. Katlyn Freeburg of Custer County ran 22:10, taking third.
