Friday late afternoon brought the warmest temperatures Stocker Stadium has seen this year so far and along with it, some blazing times.
3A boys sprint juggernaut Coal Ridge, much like pioneers of old, headed West in search of better times and gold. They found both for their taking. Zen Gross, Chris Contreras, Edgar Enriquez and Trevor Kelly teamed up first for the 4x200 and walked away with a 3A classification leading 1:30.76.
The foursome returned to the track later to win the 4x100 in 43.97 (3A #2), besting Fruita Monument and pulling 3A rival Grand Valley to 45.27. Still not done for the night, Enriquez and Contreras joined Andy Bowles and Sam Jorgensen for another classification-leading mark in the 4x400 (3:28.38).
