Setting the stage for bigger things

For many people, when George Washington High School is brought up in conversation the topic of discussion inevitably turns to the national elite Dior Hall. With an athlete as great as Hall, it’s easy to get distracted from the other buzzings at George Washington.

 

For those who were hoping to see the GW record-setting SMR8 squad, Aliyah Briggs was the only leg from Mullen to return to the relay this week. The Patriot’s SMR8 placed third behind Green Mountain and Denver East.

 

GW senior Darby Gilfillan outlasted Horizon’s Megan Mooney in the 1600m to a 5:01.7. 

 

Mooney would turn the tables in the 800m overtaking Gilfillan late to clock a 2:17.89

 

Now to discuss the inevitable, Saturday was the first meet this season that Dior Hall has run her marquee event, the 100 hurdles, on Colorado soil.
