It wasn't that long ago that this region struggled to put 15 girls on the course for the regional meet. Things have changed a great deal since then, however, and this region is now one of the success stories of 2A cross country.
With either four or five complete teams figuring to toe the line at Pueblo's Elmwood Golf Course on Thursday, two teams should make it to state. We may have a team back-dooring their way into state as well.
By season performances, the top two teams are Sargent and Rocky Ford. Although the rankings below give the edge to Rocky Ford, the edge last Friday at Eric Wolff went to Sargent, 54 to 59. That was scoring five, but we'll be scoring three on Thursday. In that case, Sargent still would have come out ahead at Eric Wolff.
