We got to know Tanner Martin a little late in the cross country season. It appears as if we'll get to know him better in track season. Colorado Track XC file photo by Ashley Green.
By now, you should already know things can heat up on the banked indoor oval at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
Among the flurry of nice indoor season performances by athletes from Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas were a few from Colorado as well.
Looming largest among those performances were a pair of 800s out of Alamosa. Tanner Marin took third and Oscar Martinez fourth with times of 2:04.08 and 2:05.41, respectively. Thus far, boys two mile times have not shown up, so we may end up with more to report from the boys when those do.
Among the girls, Shannon Maloney dropped in at third in the mile with a time of 5:29.04. Sarah Storey led the Colorado long jumpers at 4.77m (15-7.75), with Alli Davis about three inches back of Storey. Storey would also go 31-6 to open the season in the triple jump.
You can, of course, find more if you do a little digging through the results. The Saturday night meets in the Albuquerque Convention Center continue for the next two weekends.
