Colorado went down with high hopes for a pair of firsts in the featured mile events. As it turns out, they had to settle for a pair of seconds. Dani Jones shot herself out of a cannon and blew by Katie Rainsberger in the girls race. Carlos Villarreal found himself a human-sized slingshot and had just enough to get by William Mayhew at the end of the girls race.
