Only a dozen teams picked the Thunder-Storm meet, a joint effort of CSU-Pueblo and Pueblo West High School, for their home meet on Saturday. Of those 12, several were running something decidedly less than a full varsity squad.
So, naturally, you wouldn't expect a lot to come from this meet. And, in that expectation you would find yourself in error.
No less than three state-leading marks on the season were posted at the Thunder-Storm, plus a bundle of other marks that could easily stand as qualifying marks heading into the state meet.
Liberty Bell and the Stutler Twilight were supposed to produce the big marks this weekend. And so they did. It's just that Thunder-Storm elbowed their way in on the fun.
Ashlyn Hare didn't take things long to get started. Before the track events had barely begun, Hare had notched a new state-leading high jump of 5-7 and triple jump of 38-3.5....
