It is a simple concept. Most great high school track performances happen within a certain context. Explosive event athletes tend to favor a little heat. As muscles warm, they seem to explode better.

Slow twitch athletes tend to perform a little better with high barometric pressure and cool temperatures. With this in mind, enter the Pueblo Twilight, the only meet in the state that sets itself up to exclusively run sprints in the sun and distance in the dark.

The sun and occasional rain over Dutch Clark Stadium in Pueblo did not always agree with the meet moniker, but for the most part, weather conditions were pleasant during the daylight set of events.

The Pueblo Twilight accepted meet entries from 42 schools (many entering only distance athletes), but only seeded the top 48 or 40 in the events 800m and under. What this did was create an excellent set of conditio...
