There is still track and field going on. It's not quite exactly like you have to look very hard to find it, but it will be a little more thinly spread than the last weekend nevertheless.
Realistically, it comes down to two meets: the Junior Outdoor Nationals meet in Eugene, Oregon, and, for those of more modest stature in the world of track and field, the Plains to Peaks Last Chance meet at Vista Peak High School in Aurora.
I believe I have the comprehensive list of active Colorado-connected entries for Junior Outdoors, but every time I make a claim like that someone brings me up short. So, time to make someone's day:
Caleb Ojennes - 400
Jennifer Celis - 1500
Cerake Geberkidane - 5000 and 10,000 (I assume one of these two will get the axe)
Dior Hall - 100 Hurdles
Ashley Miller - 100 Hurdles (Ashley, of course, moved to Florida, but lots of people here still know her)
Mackenzie Howie - 400 Hurdles
Carly Lester - 400 Hurdles
Bailey Roth - 3000 Steeple
Rajon O'Quinn - High Jump
Andrew Barlow - Pole Vault
Chyna Ries - Long Jump
Mariah Walker - Shot Put
Josie Natrasevschi - Hammer and Discus
Haley Showalter - Hammer and Discus
Action for USA Junior Nationals Outdoor begins on June 25.
I honestly haven't much of an idea what to expect in terms of an athlete count for the Plains to Peaks Last Chance meet, but it will be the last regular USATF-Colorado club meet of the summer season. As such, it could function as a nice opportunity for El Paso-bound athletes to stay a little sharp with their events.
