For the folks who went into the weekend thinking all the big-school news was going to come out of deKoevend Park, Waneka Park proved them decidedly wrong. There is no longer anything minor league about the Centaurus Invitational.

The most serious action of the day got underway with the varsity girls race. Going in, Monarch seemed not only the plausible favorite, but probably a heavy favorite as well. But, "plausible" and "heavy" landed with a thud as they ran straight-on into an amped-up Broomfield team.

Broomfield spotted Monarch's Holly Bent and Audrey Lookner the top two places, but then washed away the temporary Monarch advantage in a sea of blue singlets.
