Without meaning any criticism whatsoever of Castle View coach Mark Kuhn, who has gone to great, and highly commendable, lengths to make an authentic cross country experience available to Colorado's high school programs, today's Castle View Sabercat Invitational was bursting at the seams.
Three of four race starts had to be brought back on account of runners falling in the first 100 meters. Yet another race start could just as easily have been brought back. And, the surface those runners fell on wasn't very forgiving.
Then, at the end of the morning, there was a long line of meet participants and attendees waiting in line to catch the shuttle buses back to where cars were parked for the meet. A train passing through Sedalia at just the wrong time and blocking the road between the venue and the parking only exacerbated the wait.
