Three years ago, Paul Roberts and Joel Such ran their first state cross country race and made smashing success of it. In that race, the two Lyons freshmen ran first and seventh, as Lyons ran away with team honors.
This year, the two freshmen who rocked the world of 2A cross country in 2012 finished 1-2 at state. Roberts posted the top time at state for the second year in a row at 15:34. Such was nine seconds ahead of third at 16:33. And now the cycle is complete.
2A will no longer have to concern themselves with the likes of Paul Roberts and Joel Such. But Roberts and Such would be among the first to tell you that they didn't get it done on their own.
