Josiah Davis and his Frontier Academy teammates have added their entry to the list in the last couple of days. Photo by Jeff McCoy.
I'm a day late on fulfilling my promise of getting this information out, but hopefully it's still worth knowing. At this point, the following small schools have athletes entered for NXR-SW. Actually, there are a few more school on the list, but I have not added mixed teams to the list as those would be ineligible for a small-school championship.
As of 8 PM on Wednesday, November 11, here is a listing of the small-school teams entered for NXR-SW (the listing goes in reverse order of when entries were received):
St. Pius X (NM) - Boys, Girls
Hope Christian (NM) - Boys, Girls
Window Rock (AZ) - Girls
Frontier Academy (CO) - Boys, Girls
Salida (CO) - Boys, Girls
Zuni (NM) - Boys
Battle Mountain (CO) - Boys, Girls
Mancos (CO) - Boys
Valor Christian (CO) - Boys, Girls
Northland Prep (AZ) - Boys, Girls
Cottonwood Classical Prep (NM) - Boys, Girls
University (CO) - Boys, Girls
Albuquerque Academy (NM) - Boys
Peyton (CO) - Boys
Alamosa (CO) - Boys
The Classical Academy (CO) - Boys, Girls
Peak to Peak (CO) - Girls
Heritage Christian Academy (CO) - Boys, Girls
Roosevelt (CO) - Boys, Girls
Clearly, this is shaping up as a nice field, but just as clearly there are more teams that we would like to see on the list. There is still another week (almost) for late registrations to make their way in.
Note that it is highly likely that the Alamosa boys, Albuquerque Academy boys, Salida girls, and Battle Mountain girls will be issued invitations for the Championship races. Salida, however, has already indicated they will run in the small-school championship. So, that helps bolster the field just a little.
