Scratch Mike Call's name from the record books. On Saturday, into the thin air at Gypsum, Colorado, Mason Finley of Buena Vista High School threw the discus 202-10 to shatter the 30-year-old Colorado all-classification record.
Finley's throw easily ranked as the highlight of the meet at the Eagle Valley Invitational. The throw came despite the cold and blustery conditions that marked most of the day. In addition to a record-setting discus throw, Finley also claimed the shot put title at the meet with a toss of 56-11.
