Fireworks were in store for the Phil Wertman Invitational - both figuratively and literally. With Stocker Stadium rubbing shoulders with Suplizio Field, track & field fans and athletes often share the collective facilities with the baseball throngs.
Occasionally an errant foul ball flies high over the stands of both venues to remind the T&F crowd to take heed of the frantic "heads-up!" shouts. This time around, just as the boys 4x400 completed, the Colorado Mesa University's baseball team treated all in the vicinity to a grand pyrotechnic display in the beautiful spring evening sky.
Dazzling demonstrations were not just limited to the late night sky though.
