This year's Great Southwest Track and Field Meet will be held June 2 through 4. June 2 and 3 will hold the multi events, while the hammer throw, steeplechase, and all relays except the 4x100 and 4x400 take place on June 3. The remaining events will take place on Saturday, June 4. The meet will be hosted at the track and field complex on the University of New Mexico campus.
The Great Southwest Classic is open to athletes throughout the region, while elite athletes from many other states are invited as well. Nearly twenty states were represented at the 2015 edition. The assembled fields are generally quite selective and very competitive.
The Colorado girl's squad has claimed the team title each of the last three years. Additionally, the boys achieved their best success in recent years in 2015. We'd like to have more involvement on the boy's side and send two EXCELLENT squads to Albuquerque.
