Well, guess what? That Pomona team that sneaked up on everyone and left with the 5A Boys state title, might just be an even better team next year than they were this year. In any case, the depth rankings have them at the head of the pack heading into the next school year.
Giving reasonably close chase is Cherokee Trail. Pretty much everyone else needs a lot of help from relays and needs to find and/or develop some serious help over the next 11 months. But, finding and developing is what makes track and field so much fun.
For now, though, pencil Pomona in as your very early favorites to repeat next year. And, as an interesting sidebar on that status, Pomona figures as the smallest 5A school in 2017.
