
Everyone knows about Montrose's distance presence, but Sam Distel gives the Indians a substantial presence in the rings as well.
The Southwestern League enjoys the unusual distinction of being a mixed 4A/5A league with a scant five teams. Montezuma-Cortez left the league this school year for the Intermountain League, leaving the Southwestern League with what was at one time easily the five largest schools on the Western Slope. Now, the SWL stands as a monument to the way things used to be on the Western Slope.
Since it is such a small league, though, we're only going 15-deep on the depth analysis. Even that may be a little long in a few events...
As was the case with the SWL girls, the league looks to be beholden this spring to the 4A boys teams--Montrose and Durango. The Grand Junction schools will try to play catch-up. Fruita Monument starts closest, but they are definitely a step back from the leaders.
