Across the continent from Foot Locker Nationals, another national-level race was taking place in Virginia--the USATF National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships.
While Colorado was only minimally represented in this race at the high school level, those who did make the trip fared very nicely.
Most notable among the those were two Boulder HS teammates, Kelsey Lakowske and Sam Lewis--running for the Fairchild Flyers in USATF-sponsored competition. Lakowske won the intermediate girls title by seven seconds over the closest competition. Sam Lewis, entered in the youth girls 4K race, finished fourth with a time of 15:04.
