Yes, as a matter of fact, there is a USATF club meet here in Colorado this weekend. Tomorrow, at the Grace Center (St. Mary's High School stadium, along Union Boulevard between Fillmore and Austin Bluffs) in Colorado Springs.
Earlier this week, it was looking like the various heats might be offering a wide selection of empty lanes, but the entries have filled out well the last couple of days. And, you can still get additional entries in until 8 PM tonight.
Several highly recognizable names from the state's ranks of track and field athletes have signed up for this one. Not every event is going to have a showdown of note, but there will definitely be a few of those. Interestingly, the 17-18 boys 110 hurdles looks to be among the very best of the showdowns the meet will offer. Girls sprints also appeared to be nicely provisioned with high-end talent.
And, I trust entries are now to the point where Ed Latimer, coach at Colorado Springs Striders, doesn't have to worry about taking a bath on the site rental.
So, in case you were wondering, yes, I'll be hauling myself and my camera over to the Grace Center tomorrow morning for at least a slice of the action. It will be good to see you there.
