MackTrack Elite Meet Delivers A Few Notable Performances

While parts of the state were being drenched with rain today, things stayed pretty nice for the MackTrack Elite Invitational and the handful of athletes who showed up.

Several athletes flirted with PRs and top marks, but a couple sent their results out of the park.

Mia Manson joined an elite group by clearing better than 13 feet in the pole vault as a freshman (class records are generally accepted up until August 1). Manson's 3.98m vault abolishes her own Colorado freshman class record and has her nearly six inches ahead of the next best freshman in the nation.

That's pretty remarkable when you stop and think about it.

Although it didn't come with a wind reading, Jahzara Davis had the best long jump of the day at 17-0.75. Davis was competing in the 13-14 division. Some school in Colorado Springs will have a serious freshman talent next spring.

With this meet, the club season is done here in Colorado. The Rocky Mountain State Games do require a USATF membership for participation, but the meet is not a USATF club meet in any ordinary sense. A few Colorado athletes are going on to USATF Junior Olympic Nationals, but that meet takes place at the end of the month in Kansas. Though parts of Colorado look a lot like Kansas, Lawrence doesn't count as a local meet venue.
