There was definitely something of a preview of the 5A Region 5 boys at the State 3200 this spring.

It's time now to weigh the preseason strength of the 5A Boys regions.

We can begin by taking a quick look at the comparative strength of the various regions at last year's state meet. That tells us something, but leaves in last year's seniors.

If we want to find out how things look without last year's seniors, we need to do a vritual meet with last year's seniors removed. Removing last year's seniors is easy enough, but we also need to acknowledge that virtual meets have a tendency to assume all courses were created equal and they don't know much about the incoming freshman class. So, virtual meets don't tell us everything we want to know, but they do tell us enough to be worth listening to their story.
