Highlights Of The Mines High School Indoor #2

Maya Provencal continued to add to a nice list of marks compiled early in the indoor season with a winning effort in the 200. File photo.

As you're probably already aware, the second of six high school indoor meets put on by the Colorado School of Mines this winter is in the books. Let's take a quick look at the highlights out of that meet here.

And there were some considerable highlights, especially so on the girls side of the ledger.

  • Sydnee Larkin won the triple jump at 41-8 (!) and the long jump at 18-9.5. If you take a quick trip to the national indoor girls rankings, you'll find that both marks stand very well right now.
  • Emily Sloan is now officially back skimming hurdles. Her 8.47 clocking kept a very nice 8.62 by Jaiden Paris in second place.
  • Maya Provencal posted a very-nice-for-Steinhauer 200 mark of 27.32 to take the win there.
  • Roosevelt's Raquel Reese sent a message to the world of 4A high jumping with a 5-2 winner at the high jump pit.
  • Maya Evans led a parade of seven high school girls under 8-flat in the 60 with a 7.68. Evans was all that stood between Larkin and three event titles on the evening.
  • Mia Manson continued her domination of the pole vault at 12-1, but Abigail Gray was only six inches back at 11-7.
  • Logan DeRock lofted a nice shot put of 35-9 to win that event.

If we move over to boys highlights, the list looks like this:

For most of these athletes, a break from formal competition ensues. Meets will resume in January. But, for a few, there's always the Air Force Holiday Open tonight...
