Andrew Jorgenson cleared 6-3 with ease at the Western State High School Open Saturday.
Colorado's best competed everywhere from New Mexico to Georgia this past weekend, and while we've reached the tail-end of the indoor season, we saw some impressive performances as athletes area finding their stride.
Great Southwest Classic Indoor Invitational
Albuquerque Convention Center Albuquerque, NM
Feb 10, 2018
Arria Minor was great as expected at the Great Southwest Classic. Minor tripled, winning the 60, 200, and the 400. But most impressive was that every performance was high quality -- she won the 60 in 7.41, the 200 in 23.72, and the 400 in a new US No. 2 of 53.80. While she already has US No. 1 times in the 60 and the 200, her wins here are still top-five marks.
In the distance events Colorado took five of six individual wins, Soleil Gaylord, Brock Helvey, Michael Long, Carley Bennett, and Maggie Smith all had wins. While Mia Manson took the pole vault title over 13-feet again. Maya Evans won the long jump title and Joy Gerow won the weight throw title.

Western State High School Indoor Open
Mountaineer Field House Gunnison, CO
Feb 10, 2018
Sadio Fenner was the highlight of the Western State Open. "Smooth" was the best word to describe his dominating mile steeple victory that saw him lapping runners. And while he didn't get the opportunity to go head to head with Drew Seidel in the 800, Fenner's double was also impressive as his heat 1 win of the 800 over a stellar field came off tired legs after the steeple. Additionally impressive was Seidel's cold 2-flat 800 win in heat three.
Battle Mountain's Naomi Harding, Lizzy Harding, and Alex Raichart were equally impressive in the mile, while the Harding sister's stole the show going 1-2, then 2-1 in the 800.
The boys high jump saw two of Colorado's best play chess together. Jasper Germain and Andrew Jorgenson went back and forth, upping the bar, and ultimately locked at 6-3 together for the tie. Reece Davidson dominated all-comers in the shot with a toss of 54-11, a mark that's only second to himself.
In the girls shot, Katie Hyke recorded a state-leading mark. Hyke tossed 37-11 to take the event while Amaya Atencio finished second with a toss of 35-1, No. 6 in the state.

Dunamis Super Meet
Dellinger Park Cartersville, GA
Feb 9, 2018 Feb 11, 2018
FK Elite and Real Training sent a solid crew down to Georgia for some top marks. Emily Sloan ran a jaw-dropping 8.21 in the 60 hurdles, only to be met at the line by Tia Jones. Sloan's 8.21 is a personal best, and No. 2 in the country. Anna Hall competed in several events, but starred in the high jump. She won the event in 5-10, a US No. 3 mark.
For the boys Devin Cadena improved on his 60 down to 6.94 -- Colorado No. 1.
