Leap Of The Week: Lauren Zoe Baker

Lauren Zoe Baker ran 20-seconds under her 2017 3,200 PR - twice - this past weekend.

It's not very common to chop over 20-seconds off your personal best in the 3,200, but that's what Lauren Zoe Baker has done in less than a year.

Baker entered 2018 with a modest PR of 11:47 3,200 outdoors, but she's already made quick gains indoors. She PR'd in the preliminary heats of the 3,200 at the Simplot Games, running 11:29 - which was already a feat within itself. But then she came back two days later to take another four-seconds off her best, setting the bar at 11:25 in the finals. Adding to the wow-factor is that this was her first weekend racing this season.

Baker's performance sheds light on her growing strength around the track - running under 11:30 twice within two days of each other bodes well for her outdoor season, and that's why she's this week's Leap Of The Week.
