Mid March Madness At The Coyote Warrior Invite

The boys mile saw six enter the top-10 rankings.

The Boys
In the sprints the name of the game was Ryan Lynch. Lynch claimed the 100 and the 200, winning in 11.48, and 23.56
In the 300 hurdles the duo of Mitchell Waters and Tyler Waters went 1-2 in the event. Mitchell led the way with a 40.92, while Tyler was just on his heels in 41.34.
The boys mile was a chess-match between Carter Dillon and William Dixon. Mountain Vista loaded up the field and took the early pacing duties, though Dillon and Dixon hovered within the pack, keeping an eye on each other. When the bell rang Dillon threw down the hammer, pulling Dixon with him. The two separated from the pack and it was clear the winner would be one of these two. As they battled down the final straight it was Dillon who kept his stride rolling all the way through the finish for a 4:22.69 win. Dixon was a few shadow-lengths back in 4:24.08. Caden Foster shifted into his sixth gear down the final stretch, inching towards Dixon before running out of real estate. Foster finished third in 4:26.24. Behind them a wave crashed across the line, with the top-six all breaking 4:30.
In the high jump Brant Killmon and Owen Koonce battled for the W. The two played cat and mouse before Killmon cleared 6-6 to take the win. The jump moved him up to No. 2 in the state. Koonce finished second with a jump of 6-4.
Killmon also went on to claim the long jump in 21-01.75.
Max Manson opened up his outdoor season here, and made sure to come out swinging. Manson made no contest of the pole vault, claiming the event with a modest 15-6 showing. The mark is No. 1 in the state, though over a foot below his personal best. Behind him Cole Rowan claimed second and the No. 2 mark in the state at 14-0.
Horizon took the boy's title with 125.25 points, while Rock Canyon finished second with 103.50.
