Week Two Coaches Poll: Girls

Week one - or is it week 2? - into the season, and now we've got a few races to mix and mash and see what comes of it. Like the boy's rankings, there wasn't much movement up top in the girl's rankings either, but we did get our first glimpse of a few new squads in the top 10.

Here's a quick glance of the rankings... (Click on the classification for the full top 10)

5A

Mountain Vista and Cherokee remain in the No. 1 and No. 2 positions after the weekend. Both squads took team titles, though Mountain Vista's dominating win at the Vista Nation 2 Mile was enough to keep them on top. Mountain Vista was a unanimous No. 1 this week. There was a lot of shaking behind them, however. Cherry Creek's performance at the Cherry Creek Lohman Invite gave them the nod to move into the No. 3 spot this week. Perhaps the big move of the week came from Boulder, who went from unranked to No. 6. Likewise, Grandview made their way into the top 10 after their runner-up finish at Cherry Creek.

4A

Battle Mountain's pack running at Cheyenne Mountain kept them on top of the rankings, but not by much. Perhaps the most revealing result coming out of the meet was Air Academy, who's runner-up finish to Battle Mountain led to their leap over Palmer Ridge and Niwot and into the No. 2 spot this week. The Cheyenne Mountain Stampede also led to two previously unranked teams to jump into the middle of the rankings. Cheyenne Mountain and Thompson Valley made the biggest leaps, landing in the No. 5 and No. 6 spot.

3A

Peak to Peak's runner-up finish to 5A No. 1 Mountain Vista at the Vista Nation 2 Mile showed they could with one of the best squads in the state, and for their efforts they remain No. 1 in 3A. They were a unanimous No. 1 this week - again. The next five spots behind them saw absolutely no movement at all, as much of 3A remained the same.

2A

Lyons remained on top of the rankings this week, but behind them, there was quite a bit of movement. Peyton's performance at Cheyenne Mountain elevated them over both Nederland and Paonia. Dawson was a new addition to the rankings, landing in the No. 6 spot this week.
