On the boy's side of the competition one major highlight has got to be Mason Anthony.
The Elizabeth senior toppled Carl Heide's 3A state record in the 300 hurdles with a jaw-dropping 37.92. That's the fastest time in the state by nearly half a second, and the lone sub-38 clocking so far. Garrett Nelson was the runner-up in 38.32.
Anthony also backed that up with a big victory in the long jump, going 22-10.5, and a runner-up finish in the 110 hurdles in 14.75. Zion Flash Gordon came away with the victory in the event going away in 14.21.
In the 200 we saw Elijah Williams tear up the track, and the field, with a 21.90 clocking. Williams was the lone sub-22 clocking.
Moving on up, or back to the topic of Yasin Sado. The Denver West junior completed a stellar double, winning the 800 in 1:56.48.
Aside from Sado and Vancil, the 1,600 proved to be stacked, with Connor Ohlson, Mason Norman, and Will Daley having big races of their own. Ohlson cracked 4:20, running 4:19 to finish third, while Norman was fourth in 4:21, just ahead of Daley's 4:23. All in all, eight ran 4:28 or faster.
In the 3,200 Seth Bruxvoort paced his way - away - for the W in a personal best of 9:41.
The field events saw a ton of big performances as well.
Three went over 150 feet in the discus, lead by Max Christenberry's 164-4 victory. Avery Shunneson was a close second in 160-5.
Meanwhile three went 6-6 in the high jump. D'Angello Wright, Owen Koonce, and Cisco Padilla went big with 6-6 jumps.
