Jayden Omi achieved a sweep of the sprints, claiming the 100 and 200. Omi's 10.97 was a sold tenth of a second ahead of Devyn Lauer, Ian Jackson who both were clocked at 11.11.
Omi doubled back to win the 200 in 22.17, this time beating Cole Caskey's 22.33.
Jackson did capture a state title before the weekend was over, however. The Alamosa junior cracked 49 seconds in the 400 to win the event in 48.97. The win was a clear half-second ahead of runner-up Mike Ciccio, who finished second in 49.51
Yasin Sado achieved the rare feat of tripling in the distance events.
In the 800 Sado kicked late for the win, running 1:56.25. Behind him Braden Bartlett cracked 1:57, running 1:56.95 to finish second.
Sado's dominance was on clear display the further the distance, as he ran clear of the field in the final lap of the 1,600 to win by five seconds. Behind Sado's 4:20 win was the upset of the event, as his brother - Ahmed Sado - followed suit with a runner-up finish in 4:25 to give the Sado brothers a 1-2 finish. Mason Norman crossed the line third in 4:27.
The 3,200, same storyline: Yasin Sado doing Yasin Sado things: winning. Yasin pulled away late for a 9:29 victory, beating Norman's 9:41. Ahmed finished third in 9:42, just ahead of William Ledden's 9:46.
One of the most competitive events of the meet came in the 110H, where Nate Hanson and Mason Anthony took the race down to the line. Hanson dropped a big personal best, running 14.31 to edge out Anthony, who finished second in 14.39.
Anthony rallied in the 300H, and dominated the field with a 38.67 victory after dropping a 37.82 in the prelims, and that was his second state title of the weekend.
The Elizabeth senior went 22-9 to win the long jump by four inches over Zace Buckhold, who took second in 22-5.75.
The triple jump was a competition nearly over after the first round, as Kelita Baroumbaye came out swinging. The Gunnison senior went 47-0.75 in his first jump, which was also a PR. Michael Wedemeyer was a close second in 46-8.25.
The top eight cleared six feet in the high jump, and ultimately it was Skye Ciccarelli who outlasted the competition. The Woodland Park senior capped his high school career with a 6-6 state title in the event.
In the pole vault Noah Kelly saved his best performance for the state meet. The Lutheran sophomore hadn't gone over 14-0 feet all season, but he went 14-6 for the state title.
In the discus two went over 150-feet, led by Jace Pittman's 158-10. Elias Naranjo took silver in 152-7. Meanwhile the shot put belonged to David Hawkins. The Bayfield senior took gold in his last state meet with a 51-0 toss.
In the relays Platte Valley won a hotly contest 4x1 over Elizabeth and Manual. Platte ran 43.64, which was a half-stride ahead of Elizabeth's 43.71, and Manual's 43.75.
The 4x2 was on the opposite side of the spectrum, as Lutheran ran away with a two second victory, running 1:30.76. Likewise, Alamosa dominated the 4x4, winning the event by four seconds in 3:23.
Holy Family won a tightly contested battle in the 4x8, claiming the event in 7:59, just ahead of Alamosa's 8:01, and Frontier Academy's 8:02.
Lutheran claimed the team title with 91.5 points, while Denver West finished second with 65, and Elizabeth finished third with 58.
