
Haxtun's Joey Gerk topped the list with a leap of over a second in the 100.
In the 100 there's very little room to make gains. We're talking fractions of a second over 100 meters of rubber track.
That's the launch out of the blocks, the first 40 or so meters of acceleration, holding, finishing, and that lean at the line.
That's not a lot of space to make gains, but quite a few did.
Speaking of gains, topping this list is Haxtun's Joey Gerk.
A year ago the senior did not get an invite to the Big Show (State), and had a personal best of 12.37. That was last year, because this year he was the lone 100 sprinter to improve over a full second.
Let me say that again: Gerk was the only 100 sprinter to chop off more than a second from his 2018 best.
Clearly, he got to work over the past year, because he dropped his PR to 11.31, and went on to finish fourth at State.
