The 400m-800m double isn't an easy one - it's the best combination of sheer sprint speed, and the endurance to hold the hot pace.
If the two mile is the hours-long cook in the oven, the 400-800 is the boiling of the egg. And this year the 400-800 doublers were top-pocket finds.
Cal Banta, Cruz Culpepper, Aidan Fitzgerald, and David Cardenas all had combined times within the same second - 2:44 to narrow it down.
That just shows how stellar this year's crop of mid-distance runners was.
Two events tallying 600 meters barely separated these four, and if it were a race, it'd be a lean that would go to Banta.
The Air Academy senior topped this list by a few tenths of a second, running 50.55 in the 400, and 1:53.48 in the 800 for a total of 2:44.03.
