Ben Greene Will Be Running With The Buffaloes in 2021

Falmouth senior Ben Greene signed his national letter of intent to the University of Colorado on Friday afternoon at Falmouth High School.

Falmouth high school senior Ben Greene announced his college commitment to the University of Colorado at Boulder last weekend and on Friday at Falmouth High School he made it official signing his national letter of intent in front of a small group of coaches, and family.

Greene in his second cross-country season after making the switch from soccer his junior year had an undefeated senior season highlighted by a personal best 15:43 at Brunswick, and a win at the SMAA Cumberland County Championship. Heading into the state meet which was canceled due to COVID-19 concerns Greene was considered one of the individual favorites.

On the track, Greene has run well recording personal bests of 1:56,73 (800m) and 4:20.07 (Mile). As his coaches mentioned on Friday he has had a bit of bad luck, getting disqualified at the 2019 outdoor state meet in the 1600m, and then missing the 2020 indoor state meet due to a foot injury that happened days before the meet and of course having the 2020 cross-country state meet canceled this fall.

The Falmouth coaching staff all praised Ben for his hard work and contributions to the Falmouth program over his time in the Yachstmen's jersey.

Greene will run for legendary Colorado coach Mark Wetmore who had led the Buffaloes to eight NCAA cross-country national titles. While Colorado wasn't necessarily Ben's first choice of schools when Colorado reached out to him and offered him a spot, he thought it over for a week and then made the decision that it was the best opportunity for him. He's excited about the opportunity provided to him and looking forward to seeing how far his running career can go.
