Colorado Year In Review: Alivia Weathers Quadruples At State

The new year is right in front of us... Days in fact. So, let's take a stroll down the previous year, because there was plenty to remember...

Over the next week I'll be rolling out the Colorado Year In Review, which will cover some of the best performances of 2021.

It's of note that as strange as 2020 was, so was 2021 - all of the following performances took place over the span of just under eight months. But there was a ton to talk about from May through December.

As per the usual with Mondays, here are the highlights of the highlights...

We'll start with Alivia Weathers2021 1A Colorado State Track & Field performance, because one word comes to mind when reflecting back on it: Domination.

It wasn't just one event, or one day.

It was four events spanning three days.

One event or one day of perfection is all most athletes could ask for, particularly when we're talking about the state championships.

But last June Weathers was consistently on point.

The Lone Star (then) junior did something that no athlete in any classification did - she won four individual state titles.

What's additionally impressive is that her four state titles came across a variety of events.

Weathers won the 110 Hurdles in 16.50, then several hours later came back to win the 300H in 48.15.

The Lone Star junior also won the triple jump in 34-8, and the pole vault with a 10-0 clearance.

Four events. Four state titles.

She tallied 40 points of Lone Star's 52. Individually, she would've placed seventh in the team race.

Oh yeah, and she'll be back this spring to defend them all...
