For the women, it was a case of reversing an outcome from two weeks ago vs. Texas Tech. Although the CU women did not quite manage a repeat of the 1-2 finish they got from Jenny Barringer and Allie McLaughlin at the Big XII meet two weeks ago, they did get a 1-3 (20:29 and 20:45), plus another top ten finish from Laura Tremblay (21:11). And that was good enough to raid the regional title from the Red Raiders of Texas Tech. Emma Coburn and Laura Thweatt finished out the scoring for CU.
So dominant were the CU women that, outside of Texas Tech, CU's seventh runner finished ahead of the fourth runner from every other school in the meet.
The Colorado State women managed a very respectable sixth overall, led by Kristen Hemphill in 10th (21:16) and Ellie Rastall in 13th (21:19). Air Force finished 13th and Northern Colorado 20th in the team scoring.
On the men's side, the CU men dropped the title to Mountain West Conference power Brigham Young by a single point, 54-55. The CU men were led by the best performance of the year from Jordan Kyle, who finished fourth in 30:24. Richard Medina (30:32) and Christian Thompson (30:40) also finished among the top 10.
While the Air Force men were relegated to sixth in the team standings, Justin Tyner managed an individual fifth (30:29) to punch his ticket to the national championships. Colorado State's men finished 12th, and the University of Northern Colorado did not bring a complete team to the meet.
