Future Stars: Meet William Wachter

In this week's edition of Future Stars we take a look at the latest top performances across the freshmen class.

On that note, Colorado: Meet William Wachter.

The Mountain Vista freshman recently popped a class-leading 2:01.03 800 at the Pomona Invitational. The time was just half-a-second ahead of fellow Mountain Vista freshman Benjamin Anderson, who ran 2:01.45.

A week ago Wachter ran 4:37.92 in the 1,600 at the Legend Titan Clash. Add that he's run 4:25.89 in the distance at lower elevations at the Texas Distance Festival last month. And perhaps the most revealing of his performances to date is his 15:29 5k Bronze Race victory from RunningLane.

As an eighth-grader he ran personal bests of 4:57 in the 1,600, and 2:25 in the 800. You could say he's had an insanely steep curve of improvement over the past year!

Quick Glance

Peyton Sommers - The Cherokee Trail freshman continues his climb upwards within Colorado's sprint community. Sommers won the 200 at the Mountain Range Mustang Invite in 21.95, and the 400 in 50.88.

Archer Jahn - The Monarch freshman has raised the bar - literally - just about every week he's competed in the pole vault. Recently Jhan PRd in the event by over a foot, clearing 11-2.

Cole Mazurana - Welcome to the Sub-4:30 1,600 club! The Windsor freshman ran 4:29.38 at Mullen to become the first in the class this year to crack the mark in Colorado.

Jackson Fagerlin - Likewise, Fagerlin took eight-seconds off his 1,600 PR at Mullen, finishing right behind Mazurana and on the other side of 4:30 - a 4:31.49 clocking.

Jaylynn Wilson - The Eaglecrest freshman is putting together a stellar first high school season. She recently ran 12.41 in the 100 at the Pomona Invitational. Wilson now tops the freshmen class in the 100 and the 200.

Keeghan Edwards - The Valor Christian freshman now stands on top of both the 1,600 and the 3,200 freshmen rankings. Edwards recently ran 10:50 in the 3,200 at Pomona, after leading much of the race.

Elliana Adams - The Doherty freshman sliced over a second off her 300H PR this past weekend, running 48.44 at the Fountain-Fort Carson Invitational.
