Cunningham Torches 8.41 US No. 2 In The 60H At Carl Lewis

Gabriella Cunningham has come out of the blocks on fire.

The 2023 5A 100H state champion took the 60H down to the line at the Carl Lewis Invitational in Houston, Tex.

Cunningham was the runner-up in an insanely fast race, running 8.41 for a US No. 2. Lillian Harden  won the event in a nation-leading 8.40.

The performance was a personal best for the Grandview senior by over a tenth-of-a-second.

A year ago she ran between 8.51 and 8.61 seven times during the 2023 indoor season. She won this event at the 2023 edition of the Carl Lewis Invitational in 8.61. Cunningham capped her 2023 indoor season with a 8.61 to finish 10th in the prelims at the 2023 New Balance Nationals Indoor

This year she's run 8.57 twice - at the Let's Get REAL Indoor Invitational 2023-24 #1 and the Let's Get REAL Indoor Invitational 2023-24 #2

During the 2023 outdoor season she ran 13.69 in the 100H at the Stutler Twilight. She later went to win state in the event, and finish sixth at the Nike Outdoor Nationals, and win the 2023 USATF Colorado Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships

Cunningham has been insanely consistent over the years. And with her recent 8.41 clocking, it's clear that she's run herself into the conversation of best among the country.

She's already ahead of where she was last year at this point, meaning we're likely to have an exciting outdoor season ahead of us!
